Batata — aka Sweet Potato
Feline stroke is confusing, isolating, and often misunderstood. The Feline Stroke Initiative exists to change that — providing evidence-based information, practical resources, and real support for caregivers navigating neurological conditions in cats.
An educational program of the Canine Stroke Foundation, operating under the same mission and standards.
Two distinct efforts. One purpose.
The Canine Stroke Foundation is the parent organization. The Feline Stroke Initiative is its feline education and outreach program. Each serves a distinct function, but both are guided by the same mission and standards.
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organized to raise and distribute funds for dogs affected by strokes and neurological conditions. Focus is financial access, organizational accountability, and bridging the gap between diagnosis and care when cost becomes a barrier.
An education and information project operating within the Foundation’s mission, focused on cats. Provides clear, evidence-based resources for pet owners and caregivers navigating stroke recovery in felines, grounded in current veterinary knowledge — not speculation or trends.
The need
Feline cerebrovascular disease is under-researched, underdiagnosed, and poorly understood by most pet owners — and by many primary care veterinarians. When a cat has a stroke, caregivers often face the same disorienting experience: confusing symptoms, uncertain prognoses, and very little plain-language guidance.
The Feline Stroke Initiative exists to close that gap. We are building the resources that should already exist: evidence-based, clinically reviewed, and written for the caregivers who need them.
This work is connected to — and built on the same standards as — the Canine Stroke Foundation.
Get involved
Veterinary neurologists, internists, and feline specialists to review content accuracy and lend clinical credibility to educational resources.
Content development, web, design, social media, grant writing, and fundraising logistics. If you have a skill set and believe in the mission, we want to hear from you.
Nonprofit operations, 501(c)(3) compliance, fundraising strategy, legal, or financial expertise. Early-stage guidance from people who have built responsible organizations.
Help identify and synthesize current veterinary research on feline stroke and cerebrovascular disease to support accurate, up-to-date published resources.
Fiduciary responsibility, strategic oversight, and governance. We need people who can commit — not names on letterhead.
Paid positions in case management, resource development, and grant administration will be created as the Initiative reaches operational sustainability.
How we operate
All resources reflect current veterinary knowledge. We do not publish speculation, trends, or claims not supported by accepted practice. As medicine evolves, so do we.
Every dollar is treated as entrusted, not owned. Funds are distributed on medical need and financial hardship — not social reach or personal connection.
We do not raise funds through distortion, fear, or exaggerated claims. We share real stories accurately because trust is the only currency that lasts.
Required by bylaws. No director, officer, or advisor may benefit personally from funds. Conflicts are disclosed and recused — without exception.
Stay connected
Whether you’re a veterinary professional, a caregiver who has been through this, or someone who wants to help build something that matters — we want to hear from you.
